On Saturday 17th March members of Uckfield Rugby Club and local residents took to the streets of Manor Park to pick up litter as part of the Brighter Uckfield Campaign. They tackled the area by the garages at the side of the shops where along with scores of carrier bags they also retrieved part of a car gear box and alternator. They then cleared the paths of litter between the shops and the school and estimated that around 50 large sacks of rubbish were collected.
On the following Sunday six of the volunteers spent another half day this time collecting rubbish from the banks of the Uck north of the mill and from around the railway station including the tracks (fortunately there were no trains running on the day). Around
