About Us

The clubhouseUckfield Rugby Football Club is located at the Hempstead playing fields, Uckfield, East Sussex.

The Club was founded in 1966 by a bunch of lads at Uckfield Youth Club. At first, the games were played on a field loaned by a local farmer.

Our headquarters were the local public house `The Barley Mow`(now the Rajdut Indian restaurant). The home team changed in the public bar and the visitors changed in a shed and showered at the local caravan park with only one shower per team. The girls made the teas at the other end of the bar.

In 1971 we moved out of the pub and into a brand new club house built by members and we had a new pitch next to the clubhouse. By this time we were running 4 teams and we loaned another field opposite the pub.

Clubhouse Bar AreaIn 1980 we started using a pitch belonging to the community college and in 1989 we sold our clubhouse and built a new one with 4 pitches on the community college fields.

Clubhouse Bar Seating AreaThe bar area in the clubhouse has recently been refurbished with new carpet, tables and seating to provide a comfortable area in which to enjoy a drink and chat. Sky TV has also been installed in order to show most major sports fixtures.
